Water well campaigns aim to increase access to clean water in rural and remote areas where access is limited. These campaigns involve drilling new wells, repairing and maintaining existing wells, and providing education and training on water well maintenance and sanitation. The campaigns aim to improve overall health and wellbeing, support agriculture and provide water for animals and livestock. Despite some success, access to clean water remains a major challenge in third world and developing countries, particularly in the Desert regions and other arid areas. Governments and various organizations continue to work to increase access to clean water for all.

Sandy surface

This type of surface mainly consists of sand, which is typically easy to dig through. However, in desert areas, while the actual digging process may be easy, the transportation of equipment to the site can be difficult.

Normal soil surface

This type of surface is composed of soil and sediment that is relatively easy to dig through.

Hard rock surface

This type of surface is composed of rock or other hard materials that is difficult to dig through, requiring specialized equipment to break through.

Clay surface
